Overview

Introduction

This experience report details a 26-year-old male’s encounter with a high dose of DOC (2,5-Dimethoxy-4-Chloroamphetamine), a potent psychedelic, taken under the influence of alcohol and Adderall XR. The user’s intent was to enhance memory retention and creativity during an Organic Chemistry II final exam. However, due to an accidental overdose, the effects of DOC became overwhelming, resulting in intense visual and sensory hallucinations.

Substance Information and Experience

The substance taken was DOC, a powerful psychedelic amphetamine known for its long duration and intense visual effects. The user's prior experiences with various hallucinogens provided a foundation for navigating altered states, yet this particular trip quickly escalated beyond their control.

The Trip Report

The Initial Ingestion

At approximately 3:00 AM, the user attempted to administer two drops of a DOC solution (100 x 3 mg) using a dropper. The aim was to enhance the upcoming 7:00 AM Organic Chemistry II final exam, as the user believed low doses of DOC made tests more enjoyable and improved memory access. Unfortunately, due to being slightly intoxicated from alcohol, the dosage was accidentally increased to an estimated 6-9 drops, based on the remaining solution in the container and the intensity of the hallucinations that followed.

Recognizing the mistake but resigned to the outcome, the user turned on the TV with a movie loop playing from their laptop and passed out, thinking there was no use in worrying about the overdose at that moment.

Awakening to Visual Distortions

At 5:30 AM, the user woke to intense visual distortions. The TV screen, which was playing the movie 21 Jump Street, started breaking apart into tiny cubes, rendering it unwatchable. Upon standing, the user experienced unsteady balance, and objects in the darkened room began shifting and moving.

Turning on the lights worsened the situation, as the brightness caused overwhelming flashes of wild, disorienting images, and the room itself seemed to breathe. The user immediately turned the lights back off and made their way to the kitchen, feeling the need to hydrate.

Encounter with Hallucinations

On the way back to the bedroom with a gallon jug of water in hand, the user encountered a vivid hallucination in the hallway mirror. A mogwai, a small creature from Gremlins, appeared inside the mirror, about three feet tall, licking the inside of the glass. The sight filled the user with concern, as they worried about how they could possibly clean the inside of the mirror. After pleading with the creature to stop, it disappeared from view, much to the user's relief.

Once back in bed, the user sipped water, trying to assess the severity of the trip and determine whether they could still attend the exam. At this point, it became clear that the hallucinations were only beginning, and the intensity was growing.

Preparing for Class Under the Influence

Despite the increasing visuals and altered state of consciousness, the user decided to go to class for their final exam. At 6:45 AM, they began the short walk to class, a journey of about 5-10 minutes. The user tried to adjust to the harsh daylight, first transitioning through low-light environments and then through fluorescent bathroom lights. Even with sunglasses, the brightness felt unbearable, and they had an urge to dump water on themselves.

Upon arriving at class just before 7:00 AM, the user noticed that their classmates' appearances were distorted. Individuals began to take on strange forms, with their shapes morphing into representations of how the user perceived them mentally.

Classroom Hallucinations and Testing

The most disturbing hallucination occurred during the test. The user saw a grotesque figure, described as a "pedophile version of a unicorn," lurking near the teacher’s desk. This imaginary creature had balding patches of fur, a pot belly, thick-rimmed glasses, sunken eye sockets, and a disturbing grin that revealed plaque-covered teeth. Throughout the exam, the unicorn stared at the user, making them feel intensely uncomfortable.

Despite the vivid hallucinations and unsettling imagery, the user managed to complete the exam. At 8:20 PM, after handing in the test, the user caught sight of both the teacher and the unicorn grinning at them. The experience left the user feeling sick and eager to leave the classroom.

Aftermath: Returning Home

After exiting the building, the user expressed a desire to simply return home and escape the strange and unsettling hallucinations. Although the trip had not yet fully subsided, being away from the classroom offered some relief as the user tried to navigate the remaining hours of their psychedelic experience in the safety of their bedroom.

Conclusion

This experience report illustrates the unpredictability of high-dose psychedelic trips, especially when combined with alcohol and stimulants like Adderall. The accidental overdose of DOC, which was intended to enhance test performance, instead resulted in an overwhelming and at times disturbing hallucinatory experience. Although the user was able to complete their exam, the vivid imagery and unsettling hallucinations made for a challenging ordeal.
